Awards/Scholarships

Good Citizen Award

Each year the chapter honors one student from each of the three following high schools: Wilton High School, Weston High School, and Joel Barlow in Redding with the DAR Good Citizen Award. This award recognizes an individual student who demonstrates an outstanding degree of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism at home, in school and in the community. Students may be nominated by their school counselor, teachers, and peers. Winners may also go on to enter a state contest. Students should be involved in the selection of this candidate. Each school's candidate should be identified in the fall of his/her senior year. The granting of this award may then be noted on college applications. The actual award will be presented in the spring at each high school's awards ceremony with a certificate, pin and monetary award.
